Autumn. The fall season. The time when bright heat gives way to subtle cool, when green leaves transform to oranges, reds, and yellows. The time when school’s been in session for almost a month, and there’s a few-week stretch of straight routine before Halloween, Veteran’s Day, and Thanksgiving kick in. All told, autumn provides a colorful and comforting metamorphosis as an escort to your return to regularly-scheduled life. 

The catch is to take advantage. At Rockaway Care Center, just a gaze out the window and you’ll feel the fall season. The changing leaves are welcome every year, providing a nostalgic return to the lovely feeling of fall each time around. But don’t leave it at the window – whenever possible, try to get outside at least once a day. Depending on your physical state, you might be able to walk outside on foot, or via or walker, or have someone  accompany you out in a wheelchair.  Whatever it takes, it’s worth the feel of the autumn air of the dry, fallen leaves, and the direct view of the color-changing tree branch adornment. 

These initial weeks of autumn are without holidays, giving ample opportunity for reflection and taking time for activities according to your personal interests. Often times, hobby classes start during the fall season. At Rockaway Care Center, we have ongoing activities year-round, and if you haven’t started already, the fall is the perfect time to begin to peak your interests via a variety of activities.
